New fad

Today was my last hour of physiotherapy for now. I can't honestly say that it has helped me in the least. To my experience, being at work less is the most effective. Moving around a lot instead of using the computer is also a good thing. Not writing in the morning is a good thing. Anti-inflammation drugs are also nice, although it is a big question whether they are worth the risks.

As I went home after the therapy, I noticed that the weather was much colder. The wet patches of ground were not yet freezing, but I suspected that they would during the night. The rains seem to have ended, but the wind is still blowing, now much colder than before. We have had a spell of mild weather, after the long bare frost. Perhaps it will still snow before Christmas. Not that a white Christmas matters to me. I just dislike the ice on the roads and having to shuffle snow.

Twice today I itched to buy EverQuest II and fight the world's prettiest rats. I know what is happening to me, I recognize it now. I have entered a Shopping Fad. As regular readers probably know, my life is divided into fads, which are usually out of sync with the fads of the wider populace. Suddenly I am all Civ3 for a couple weeks, then it's Novel Writing Fad time, or Love Songs, or Sims2, or Physical Exercise ... A fad usually lasts 1-3 weeks, although it also seems to end faster the more attention I devote to the topic at hand. So I can burn it out or wait it out, usually. In the case of a spending fad, burning it out might have pretty far reaching effects on my personal economy. I should have known it for sure after the Bluetooth keyboard and the DAB radio. The good thing is, this means I am already a week into the fad. Hopefully paying bills and giving gifts will count toward fulfilling the fad too. While not exactly shopping, it is still spending money.

Or perhaps I should have my Sims go shopping. I wonder if that would help. Oh, and City of Heroes has a tailor in Steel Canyon as well. Hmm...

Or I could kneel before the Lord and pray for His aid to overcome my greed. But ... I have learned to be careful what I pray for, because I might just get it. And not always in the way I expect.
